Approached with a comprehensive package of conceptual hand sketches and detailed CAD engineering drawings, Funky Lemon was commissioned to produce a high-fidelity, accurate concept model of a revolutionary new stadium seating innovation. This stadium viewing pod represents a world-first in spectator architecture, offering audiences a true 360-degree, unobstructed view of the action. Designed to slowly cruise around the stadium perimeter on a dedicated track, the pod delivers an unrivalled, immersive experience.

To transition this ambitious engineering concept into a tangible reality, our studio was tasked with creating a premium physical model. The completed piece serves as a critical asset for the client, enabling prospective customers, financial backers, and key industry dignitaries to fully comprehend, evaluate, and appreciate the spatial reality, scale, and form of the design in a way that digital renders cannot replicate.

Advanced Model Features & Technical Details

• Structural Fabrication & Material Processing: To capture the complex geometry and architectural scale of the stadium structure, our workshop utilized a hybrid manufacturing approach. The primary framework was precision-machined and sculpted from high-density acrylic block and high-density expanded polyurethane tooling foam, providing a stable, structurally sound foundation. Detailed components and repetitive structural elements were engineered using advanced resin casting techniques to ensure perfect fidelity and consistency across the model.

• Surface Finishing & Paint Application: Achieving a flawless, factory-grade aesthetic was paramount for this high-profile presentation piece. The model underwent rigorous multi-stage surface preparation, grain-filling, and priming. The final aesthetic was achieved using a combination of premium gloss white and metallic automotive-grade enamel paints, meticulously applied in our dedicated spray booth via precision airbrushing to highlight the contours and aerodynamic lines of the architecture.

• Bespoke Interior & Seating Replication: Inside the viewing pod, the commitment to micro-detailing is on full display. The interior features individual, bespoke "Recaro-style" race seats. Each seat was masterfully hand-sculpted by our model makers before being replicated and finished with a specialised tactile, matt-rubberized coating to perfectly simulate real-world high-performance upholstery.

• Specialist Glazing & Vacuum Forming: To encapsulate the pod without obscuring the intricate interior, we manufactured a flawless, compound-curved transparent canopy. This was achieved by designing and CNC-machining a dedicated tooling plug, over which optical-grade plastic sheet was vacuum formed. The resulting canopy offers crystal-clear visibility, accurately representing the advanced glazing technology of the full-scale pod.
