The Brief

Otometrics UK came to us with a brilliant logistical challenge. They wanted to showcase three of their signature audiometric sound booths at exhibitions and customer pitches, but hauling full-sized, heavy acoustic booths across the country isn't exactly a one-man job (or budget-friendly).

They needed highly accurate, portable 1:6 scale replicas that could pull double duty: acting as eye-catching exhibition display pieces and serving as interactive, hands-on sales tools to help clients visualize equipment layout.

The Funky Lemon Solution

To make these models truly interactive, we designed them with modularity in mind. Potential customers need to see how furniture and equipment will fit inside the booth, so we engineered a damage-free, snap-into-place system:

• Magnetic Precision: Internal walls were lined with a metal skin, allowing all the miniature internal equipment to be completely modular.

• Scratch Protection: We embedded strong, compact neodymium magnets into the components and capped them with a soft velour material. This ensures parts snap satisfyingly into place without scratching or marking the internal finishes.

• Real-World Aesthetics: Two of the models feature a scratch-resistant, laminated vinyl print on an external wall, perfectly demonstrating what a full-scale custom vinyl wrap looks like in real life.

Built for the Road: Bespoke Transit Cases

A great model is only good if it survives the journey. Because these models are active sales tools designed to travel directly to clients, we built bespoke, heavy-duty, foam-lined transit cases.

Instead of forcing the user to awkwardly reach down and haul the model out of a deep box—a prime recipe for accidental damage—we designed a removable base system. The entire top section of the case unclips and lifts away entirely, leaving the model sitting perfectly safe and accessible on its base. It drastically reduces the risk of breakages and ensures these models will be closing deals for years to come.

• Structure: Primarily constructed from high-grade acrylic with specialized metal-skinned internal walls.

• Components: Internal magnetic equipment was meticulously sculpted from varying densities of polyurethane model board, resin-skinned, and color-matched precisely to the Otometrics corporate palette.

• Finishes: Real wood panel flooring accents and premium scratch-resistant laminated vinyl external graphics.
