If investing in an intricate and or delicate model, to help convey your ideas and proposals, then most of the time the purchaser would like to protect the item from damage, dust or sudden shocks.
If investing in an intricate detailed model, to help convey your ideas and proposals, then most of the time the purchaser would like to protect the item from damage, dust or sudden shocks.
The last thing we would want is for it to take a level of abuse which is above the constructional strength of the materials used and find the model gets broken or damaged. This is where a bespoke designed storage and transportation case comes in. It can easily alleviate these concerns leaving you more time to concentrate on other aspects of your project goals and plans.
We are often asked to produce bespoke storage boxes which will fulfil certain client requirements. If its an exhibition piece then it may be a requirement that the storage box should have wheels which would include two lockable casters to reduce the chances of it moving during transit. Another typical requirement would be for display pieces which would need to be transported by a single person from site to site. This would mean its likely need to fit within a standard cars boot space, be light enough that a single person can easily carry it and also not too big that it requires more than one person to move.
Sometimes, to fit these requirements, we would need to make the model in multiple parts so it can then be constructed easily by the user, once it is in the location its intended to be used, then packed away for storage. If this is the case then we would nest the parts in bespoke fitted foam trays and pack in multiple layers. We always provide instructions along with images and photographs detailing the method for safe removal, construction, deconstruction and packing back away.
The type of storage container or aluminium flight case is dependant on use, size and budgets. If it’s a presentation piece then an aluminium flight case fitted with soft securing foam will give the slick look required to impress, any prospective customer, when a scale model is produced from within. If the initial presentation is not an important consideration and the prospective customer is not likely to see the model during unboxing then we would often suggest a wooden box which will fulfil your needs and quite often meets lower budget expectations.
We do have storage options onsite. We have some warehouse style racking within our workshop which we often use to store materials and stock which is due to be processed for manufacture. We also have secure shipping containers which we use to store both raw stock parts and also cut parts which are ready to send out.
We often handle the distribution of parts on behalf of customers where required. This often includes re-packaging, adding labels and boxing for distribution. We have contracts with worldwide and national couriers for smaller packages. We utilise the local convenience of a haulage and distribution company for domestic deliveries and stock sent through the national pallet network and we have also worked for many years with an international freight and logistics company when international delivery is required.
