The TechnipFMC 3D model, known as the CTS XT, is a prototype design showcasing a marine carbon capture pump unit. The purpose of this model is to demonstrate the functionality and features of the pump unit, which is intended to operate underwater in the sea. The model is presented in a 1:12 scale and is accompanied by an acrylic display case and a logo adorned plinth.
The model itself is created through 3D printing, using a highly detailed CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model as a reference. To ensure the highest level of detail and precision, an 8K photopolymer resin printer is utilized during the printing process. The resin used is sourced from sustainable materials and is UV-cured, resulting in a durable and visually appealing model.
The application colour matched paint was carried out using an airbrush. The paint was colour matched to the Ral colours which TechnipFMC use to colour the full size machinary they produce.
We used an acrylic mirrored panel to mount the model onto so we could maximise the viewing of the underside and other less easy to see components can still be seen in the reflection.
The model details and Funky Lemon logo were reverse engraved through the rear of the mirror.
The base of the display is constructed using laser-cut 9mm Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF). This material provides stability and support for the model. The MDF frame is then covered with laser-cut 5mm acrylic, which gives it a stylish and polished finish. The plinth is adorned with full company branding on three sides, providing a professional and branded presentation.
The high quality display case for the model is made of clear cast 5mm acrylic and serves as a visually appealing showcase. All sides have mitred joints and 100% clear UV hardened glue was used to ensure the joints are very strong and as clean and clear as possible.
